Drongen Public Library, Belgium

Public libraries / Completed 2015

The new library in Drongen offers space and light in a modern, timeless design.

Drongen library was housed in a rented building that no longer met the acquirements of a contemporary library. The new location offers much more usable space, so lower shelving could be used which improves the clarity and sense of space.

Abundant natural light and views to the park form the basis for a pleasant library in a modern, timeless design. Some colour accents make a link with the various target groups. Shelves were encased to maintain the tight design.

The reactions of the readers are positive, the number of visitors and borrowings are increasing.
